Mississippi Samsonite

A classic and timeless work of art by Annie Lee depicting an African American man Mississippi who is finally leaving that dirt road behind in search of bigger and better things and the fulfillment of his dreams and desires. He doesn't have much but ambition and all of his belongings are packaged up in Mississippi Samsonite....aka plain ole boxes and some burlap sacks.

The Alabama born and Chicago raised artist was known for featureless faces and the emotion and expression that radiated from the everyday people depicted in her work.
